Paintless dent removal works best when the special rods can access the inside of panels. This can usually be done without removing any trim. However when access is not available the technique of glue pulling is used.
This uses small plastic tabs which have a small amount of special glue on them and then the dent is pulled out and the tab is then peeled off. If the car has been resprayed there is a chance of pulling paint off so the car needs to have original paint. With original paint there is an extremely small chance that paint may be pulled off if the original paint is faulty.
